The last roof your house will ever need.
Standing-seam, ultra-rib and 5V-crimp systems from one of the area’s few true metal specialists. Forty-plus years of life, and it fights hurricanes for you.
Plenty of roofers avoid metal. It is one of our core specialties.
Metal roofing is where a lot of shingle crews quietly tap out. The panels are unforgiving, the details are different, and a mistake shows forever. We leaned in instead: metal is one of the things Tippy Top is known for, from standing-seam on custom homes to ultra-rib panels on manufactured housing and 5V-crimp on classic Florida cottages.
The case for metal in Central Florida is straightforward. A quality metal roof runs 40 to 70 years, two to three times the life of shingles. Panels installed to spec carry wind ratings well beyond what our storms typically deliver. Metal reflects solar heat instead of soaking it up, which shows up on summer cooling bills, and it will not ignite from a wind-blown ember.
It costs more up front than shingles, and we will never pretend otherwise. But if you plan to stay in your home longer than a decade, the math starts leaning metal, and we will walk you through both columns honestly before you decide.
Metal, your way
The metal systems we install in-house.
Different structures call for different panels. All of them are ours, no subbed-out metal crews.
- Standing-seam. Concealed fasteners, clean vertical lines, the premium residential choice.
- Ultra-rib panels. Strong, economical exposed-fastener panels, ideal for manufactured homes.
- 5V-crimp. The classic Florida profile, right at home on cottages and farmhouses.
- Architectural metal shingles. Metal longevity in a shingle silhouette for HOA-sensitive streets.
- Metal roof repair. Fasteners, washers, seams and corrosion caught before they spread.
- Metal-over-structure builds. Barns, garages, shops and outbuildings, framed and finished.

Already have metal? Watch for these.
Metal roofs ask for very little maintenance, but they are not maintenance-free, especially exposed-fastener systems. The rubber washers under screw heads age in Florida sun, and a few hundred aging washers is a few hundred future drips. Backed-out fasteners, separated seams after a windstorm, rust streaks on older uncoated panels, and dented panels from falling limbs all deserve a look before the next storm season.
Most metal problems we see are repairable for years to come. Fasteners and washers can be replaced, seams resealed, isolated panels swapped, and coatings applied to buy older roofs another decade. Full metal replacement is usually only on the table when corrosion or seam failure has spread across the field.
If you are not sure what your metal roof needs, that is exactly what the free roof check is for. We will tell you if the answer is a box of washers and an hour of labor. It often is.

The Tippy Top standard
How every metal roofing project runs, no exceptions.
These are not marketing promises. They are the operating habits that built a 4.9-star reputation across Sumter County, and they travel with the crew to every job we take.
- Licensed in Florida, every day. Roof work is risky, and the risk should sit with us. That is why full liability and workers’ comp cover every job we run.
- Two layers of coverage. The manufacturer backs the material, and we back the labor for 10 years on new roofs and re-roofs, both written down before the job closes.
- Pulled in your name. When a job needs a permit, we file it with the county under your name and schedule the inspection ourselves, so you never take a day off to chase paperwork.
- A number on paper. Materials, labor and timeline are broken out line by line, and the total you sign is the total on the final bill.
- You can reach the owner. He is involved in every project and easy to get on the phone, which matters most when you have a question mid-job.
- Picked up before we go. Every evening the crew hauls debris, runs a magnet across the ground and leaves the property ready for you to use that night.

Metal Roofing questions, answered straight.
How much more does metal cost than shingles?
Typically noticeably more up front, depending on the panel system and the roof’s complexity. Spread over its 40-to-70-year life, metal usually costs less per year of service than shingles, and that is before the cooling savings. We will quote both so you can see your actual numbers side by side.
Is a metal roof loud when it rains?
Not on a house. Metal over solid decking and underlayment, which is how residential metal is installed, sounds about the same as any other roof in the rain. The tin-roof drumming people remember comes from open-frame barns with no deck under the panels.
Does a metal roof help in a hurricane?
It is one of the best roofs you can own in wind country. Standing-seam panels lock together and resist the uplift that peels shingles off, and quality systems carry ratings of 140 mph and beyond when installed to spec. Installation quality is everything, which is why ours is in-house.
Will metal make my house hotter?
The opposite. Metal reflects solar radiation instead of absorbing it the way dark asphalt does, and reflective finishes can trim cooling costs meaningfully in a Florida summer. Light colors amplify the effect, and we will show you the finish options.
Can you put metal on a manufactured home?
Yes, and we do it regularly. Ultra-rib metal panels are one of the best upgrades a manufactured home can get, paired with the right approach to the low-slope sections. See our manufactured home roofing page or just call and describe what you have.
