Heavy-duty tarps that hold until the real fix.
Commercial-grade tarping anchored to framing, not a blue bedsheet that fails in the next gust. It protects your house and your insurance claim.
A proper tarp is a temporary roof. A cheap tarp is a delay with a hole in it.
When wind or a falling limb opens your roof, the tarp is the line between a roofing problem and a whole-house problem. Exposed decking soaks up the next rain, and from there it is rot, sagging drywall, shorted wiring and mold. A professional tarp seals the wound until the permanent repair can be permitted and built.
The difference is in the materials and the anchoring. We use thick, UV-stabilized woven poly tarps, run them over the ridge so water cannot get under the top edge, and fasten the perimeter with wood furring strips screwed into solid framing. Hardware-store tarps held down with bricks fail in exactly one Florida afternoon thunderstorm.
Tarping also matters to your claim. Florida policies expect you to take reasonable steps to prevent further damage after a loss. A documented professional tarp is that step, with photos to prove it.
When a tarp is the move
Situations we tarp across Sumter County.
Any breach that lets weather reach the inside of the structure qualifies. These are the common ones.
- Hurricane and tropical wind damage. Whole sections stripped in minutes during a landfall or band.
- Fallen trees and limbs. Punctures and crushed sections, tarped before debris removal.
- Thunderstorm microbursts. Straight-line winds that strip a slope in seconds.
- Hail penetrations. Dozens of small entry points that add up to real water.
- Fire damage. Protecting the untouched interior during restoration planning.
- Active leaks awaiting repair. A bridge that keeps rain out between now and the fix.

How we tarp a roof so it actually holds.
First, safety: we check for downed lines, unstable limbs and structural shifting before anyone climbs. Then the damaged zone gets cleared of debris so the tarp can seat flat against the deck instead of tenting over wreckage.
The tarp goes on oversized, carried over the ridge and well past the damage on every side. Furring strips screwed into framing anchor the edges and spread wind load across the deck, and sealant at the strips and penetrations closes the last gaps. The result is a temporary envelope built to survive the next front, not just the next hour.
Every step gets photographed for your records and your claim, and the same crew scopes the permanent repair while the conditions are fresh.

The Tippy Top standard
How every emergency tarping project runs, no exceptions.
These are not marketing promises. They are the operating habits that built a 4.9-star reputation across Sumter County, and they travel with the crew to every job we take.
- Coverage you can ask to see. Liability and workers’ comp are active on every job, and you can ask for proof before anyone climbs a ladder at your house.
- Labor backed for a decade. Manufacturer coverage handles defects in the material. Our 10-year workmanship warranty handles the install itself, and it is registered before the last truck pulls out.
- Pulled in your name. When a job needs a permit, we file it with the county under your name and schedule the inspection ourselves, so you never take a day off to chase paperwork.
- A number on paper. Materials, labor and timeline are broken out line by line, and the total you sign is the total on the final bill.
- You can reach the owner. He is involved in every project and easy to get on the phone, which matters most when you have a question mid-job.
- Picked up before we go. Every evening the crew hauls debris, runs a magnet across the ground and leaves the property ready for you to use that night.

Emergency Tarping questions, answered straight.
How long can a roof stay tarped?
A properly installed professional tarp holds for weeks and can go longer, which covers the gap while insurance, permitting and material lead times play out. That said, a tarp is a bridge, and we schedule the permanent repair as fast as the process allows.
Can I just tarp it myself?
We understand the instinct, and we ask you not to. Storm-damaged roofs hide soft decking, and wet shingles are slick. Beyond the safety issue, a light tarp anchored with bricks usually fails in the next storm and can flog the roof surface while it goes. Let us do it properly.
What does emergency tarping cost?
It depends on the size of the breach and the complexity of the roof, and you get the number before we start. When the damage is from a covered storm event, tarping is typically part of the claim as damage mitigation, and we document it accordingly.
Does a tarp damage the roof?
Our method minimizes it: furring strips into framing, not random screws through the field. Some fastening is unavoidable, and it lands within the damage zone that is being repaired anyway. It is a small, planned cost against an interior full of water.
Will you work with my insurance company?
Yes. We photograph the damage as found, document the tarp installation, and prepare descriptions in the format adjusters expect. Mitigation records like these are often the difference between a smooth claim and a fight.
